June - August 2024: Beatrice Oliver (from Howard University) joined the group as part of a summer undergraduate research program sponsored by UC-HBCU Boosting Representation of African-Americans in the Geosciences (BRAAG) program.

August 2023: Dr. Adebiyi recently published a new article on "The misrepresentation of Southern African Easterly Jet in models and its implication for aerosol, clouds, and precipitation distributions" in the Journal of Climate (Click here to download)
July 2023: Dr. Adebiyi and Minhazul are visiting the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) in Richland, WA, and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) in Livermore, CA, to work with collaborators and get better familiar with E3SM and all its components, including the single-column model.
July 2023: Dr. Satyendra presented his recent work at the Gordon Research Conference - Radiation and Climate in Lewiston, ME.
July 2023: Our group is awarded a DOE grant to investigate the overlooked longwave impacts of mineral dust on warm boundary-layer clouds, using model simulation and a variety of ground and satellite-based observations.
May 2023: Our group is awarded UC Merced Climate Action Research grant to study the "Adaptation pathways for agricultural land repurposing in the San Joaquin Valley and their impacts on heat and air quality extremes on vulnerable communities".
May 2023: Dr. Adebiyi recently published an article showing that "Observations suggest that North African dust absorbs less solar radiation than models estimate". The paper was published at Nature Communications Earth and Environment (Click link here to download)
April 2023: Dr. Adebiyi served as a coauthor on an article about the vertical distribution of modeled aerosol optical depth over the southeastern Atlantic. (Click link here to download article)

January 2023: Dr. Adebiyi was part of a new article that characterizes "Mineral dust aerosol impacts on global climate and climate change" (Nature Reviews Earth & Environment). Click here to download
December 2022: Dr. Adebiyi led a comprehensive review of coarse and super-coarse dust particles in the atmosphere and their impacts on the Earth system. "A review of coarse mineral dust in the Earth system" is available at Aeolian Research (Click link here to download)
November 2022: We are part of a group that was awarded a 2023 UC Multicampus Research Programs and Initiatives (MRPI) grant, titled: "UC-Dust: Addressing Future Changes in California Dust Storms (Pi: Amato Evan)". Dr. Adebiyi will lead the UC Merced part of the work. Press release can be found here.
September 2022: Our group was awarded a DOE grant to build collaboration with DOE labs, including LBL, LLNL, and PNNL that advances our understanding of dust regional climate impacts in California's San Joaquin Valley
July 2022: Our group was awarded a competitive research grant by the Academic Senate Committee on Research at UC Merced.
